Hello friends! This is our second week of What’s up Wednesday and we are now full fledged into our health coaching courses. As we mentioned last week, we will take a few minutes each Wednesday to tell you a little about all the wonderful things we are learning as we become Certified Health Coaches. Today we wanted to share Dr. Sears L.E.A.N. theory with you!

Dr. Sears teaches that the formula for health falls into four categories:

The Letter L. is for Lifestyle. How you live determines how healthy you will be. It really is a way of life and not a fad diet of sporadic exercising.

E. stands for Exercise. How much and how often you move really has an impact on your health and well being. Did you know that just the act of getting no exercise alone can cause depression and anxiety? It’s very important to keep moving! Check out our Smart Exercise tips for some good ideas!

A. is for Attitude. This is basically how you think. Having a positive attitude and working to reduce stress are key in this category. Deep breathing and yoga are great to help with relaxation! If you are looking for some positive thinking books or CD’s we highly suggest Zig Ziglar, Norman Vincent Peale and Joel Osteen.

N. stands for Nutrition! Our bodies require the right kinds of nutrients or “fuel” to work properly. This means the right amounts of vegetables, fruits, grains, beans, healthy fats, etc. When we give our bodies what they need then we can function at full capacity and keep disease and pain away. When we have meals that are packed with nutrients (like Quick and Easy Asian Wraps, Clean Eating German Pancakes, Forbidden Rice and Veggie Salad and Super Food Wilted Salad) we can feel and look our best.

This is of course just scratching the surface on all there is to talk about on these subjects! Don’t worry though, we’ll be going into more detail in the weeks so come 🙂
