7 Tools to Help Keep Lunch at Work Healthy #CleanEating

Today we want to focus on how to keep healthy when you have to pack a lunch. Bringing in homemade food is always healthier than running to the nearest fast food. It can be a bit intimidating if you don’t know the right tools. We have had a lot of experience with this because Kaan (Kathy’s husband – Anita and Melannie’s dad) often works the night shift and needs to take in 2 meals a day. Thankfully we have picked up some great tricks over the years! We avoid microwave ovens at all cost because of the dangers. With these tools there is absolutely no reason to ever use one anyway 🙂

Eating healthy is so much easier when you have the right tools. We talked a little about this in Top 10 Tools to Make Clean Eating Easy Peasy. When you call the repairman you expect him to bring his tools. You know that they are necessary in order to fix anything. You don’t expect him to bring only his hammer or just one wrench either. You know that there are several tools needed to complete the different tasks. Eating healthy is exactly the same. We have acquired most of these tools for birthdays and Christmas (possible idea for this coming holiday??). They have really been lifesavers for us!

Once again there is no real order of significance, they are all very useful for different things. If you find this list helpful and decide to purchase any of these tools we would really appreciate it if you would do it through our link! This goes to support our blog at no extra cost to you. Thank you!! 🙂

Mini Crock Pot:

This little gadget is a lifesaver for sure! Whatever we had for dinner the night before (soup, casseroles, roasts, enchiladas, etc.) is simply put in one of these, stored in the fridge at work and warmed up when it’s lunchtime. How’s that for convenience?!

Stainless Steal Thermos:

This one is a lot like the Mini Crock Pot. All you have to do with a thermos is bring your lunch to a boil, pour it into the thermos and head out the door. When you are ready to eat it will still be nice and pipping hot! Stainless steal is always best when working with food. There is no worry about heat bringing out toxins this way.

Nutribullet:

This is the perfect way to make sure you are getting lots of fruits and veggies in your diet! Eating the recommended amount can be a challenge, however, when you blend it up and drink it, it’s really a cinch. Take the base or the “cup” of your Nutribullet and fill it with good veggies and fruits for a yummy smoothie. Blend it up the night before and keep it in the fridge or blend it right before you head out the door to go to work. The Nutribullet usually comes with several cups for extra convenience. Perfect when it comes to healthy ease! Give this Easy Peasy Green Smoothie a try. We eat it like candy at our house!

Mason Jars:

This one might seem a little unusual to some, however, it is ideal for salads and veggies. Dr. Fuhrman says “The more you eat green the sooner you’re lean.” And we would like to add “The sooner you feel fantastic!” Having a salad with tons of veggies and some good protein is, in our opinion one of the very best things you can eat. If you think salads are a little boring check out our 85 Salad Fixin’s. We promise you will never look at a salad the same way again!

Insulated Lunch Box:

When you have a little insulation to your lunch box you can bring items that are a little more perishable. Things like sandwiches, fruit, yogurt etc. Just make sure they don’t get too warm and you are good!

Raw Meal:

By far the best protein drink we have found yet! It’s really nice to put some of this in your thermos with some milk and keep it for a snack during the day. Raw Meal is our favorite because it is packed with good nutrients and it tastes great! Having healthy snacks on hand helps keep you from snacking on things that aren’t so good for you, or spending money at the vending machine.

Glass Water Bottles:

Most people don’t know this, but plastic has toxins in it. Now, we aren’t saying we never use plastic. That would be a lie. We do, however, try to avoid it as much as we can. If roughly %75 of our bodies are made up of water it’s important to keep it as clean as we possibly can. Glass is a great way to do that! Plus, if you keep it in your insulated lunch box it will stay nice and cool.

Thanks so much for dropping by today! We hope these ideas help you in your health journey. They have certainly made our lives easier!

We are planning a post on healthy meals to take to lunch so make sure you stay tuned.

Thanks for stopping by! Insulated lunchbags are great aren’t they?! We found the mini crocks a few years ago and just fell in love!

  3. Great advice! I’ve been working on bringing lunch to work more often, and I love your tips. I don’t own all of this stuff, but mason jars are definitely great to have and use for work! I just find that if I plan everything on Sunday, I’m more likely to pack every day. If I have to worry about it in the morning- forget about it!
