Bean burgers have been a staple at our house for years now. We have played around with more recipes than we can even begin to remember and have enjoyed them all (well almost all haha). This recipe is our crowning glory! The flavor is amazing and we finally found a way to keep them from falling apart! It used to be a real struggle to keep them in a patty but no longer! Sometimes we prefer to make them a little smaller so they become Black Bean Sliders. Not only are they still really filling but they are cuter that way too!
Black Bean Burgers
- 2 cups black beans drained
- 1 cup bread crumbs (may need more)
- 1 egg
- 6 medium mushrooms any variety
- 1 ½ Tbs. dry minced onions
- ¼ tsp. garlic powder
- ½ tsp. onion powder
- 1 ½ tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- cayenne to taste
- salt and pepper to taste
Combine all ingredients in a food processor adding enough bread crumbs so that you can shape mixture into patties. Place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375º until browned on both sides. Garnish with onions, tomatoes, avocado, lettuce, cheese, sauteed mushrooms pickles and Bubbies Sauerkraut on a whole wheat bun. Enjoy!
Add ½ green pepper, 1tsp. cumin and ½ tsp. oregano.
Add 1-2 Tbs. Teriyaki sauce and garnish with a slice of pineapple after baking.
