Less than a week until Thanksgiving! Can you believe it? We’ve been cooking up a storm all month with some Clean Eating Banana Cream Pie, Gingered Fruit Salad, Roasted Veggies with Kale and many other tasty and healthy dishes. We have another treat for you today!
Long before we ever even thought about starting a blog we developed a habit of taking not so healthy recipes and making them good for you. This recipe is a classic example. Instead of a lot of sugar we use raw honey and real, grade B maple syrup. Both of which are packed with health promoting vitamins and minerals. Raw cacao is good for you heart, bones, hormones and helps with weight loss. Organic milk, cream and butter are good fats which means they can increase brain function, protect from cancer, reduce the chance of heart disease and regulate blood pressure. See? Using good ingredients really takes a recipe to the next level!
Chocolate pie is a classic. This one is fun because we like to use a 9×13 pan and cut them into squares! We are all about ease over here LoL. The dark chocolaty crust is a fantastic base, the rich pudding like filling is divine and, Sugar Free Whipped Cream on top makes it utter perfection! Enjoy!
Clean Eating Chocolate Pie Squares
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup honey
- ½ cup maple syrup
- 7 Tbs. cornstarch
- ½ cup cacao
- 1 tsp. Real Salt
- 4 cups milk
- 2 cups cream
- 3 Tbs. butter
- 1 Tbs. vanilla extract
In a large saucepan add all ingredients except butter and vanilla extract. Whisk together and cook on medium-high heat stirring constantly. Bring mixture to a gentle boil. Continue the gentle boil for 2 minute while stirring constantly. Remove from heat and immediately stir in butter and vanilla extract. Cover and chill 10-15 minutes. Pour into pie crust and continue to chill 3-6 hours or overnight. Top with our Sugar Free Whipped Cream and serve.
Chocolate Pie Crust

- 6 Tbs. cold butter
- ⅔ cup chopped nuts (we used pecans)
- ½ cup cacao
- butter for pan
Combine all ingredients in a food processor. Mix on highest speed until it holds together in a ball. Press evenly into a buttered 9×13 pan. Bake at 350 for about 15 minutes. Be careful not to let it burn. When the crust is cooled a slightly top with pie filling.
