One thing that often stops people from trying to eat a little healthier is the cost. Totally understandable! When you want a higher quality of food it comes with a higher price. When we first started looking into organic food and how to afford it we came across a food co-op called Azure Standard. We have been ordering from them for years and years and simply love them! We do most of our “grocery shopping” through them and they have been a huge blessing.
If you are looking for a way to eat healthier with lower costs than health food stores check out Azure Standard. We highly recommend them!
In their catalog that we get every two months there is a section called Secrets form Andrea’s Kuche.
Andrea shares recipes there and they are fantastic! One that we have just fallen in love with is her Homemade Tortillas. We have tried many different tortilla recipes and this one is by far the best! The only thing we do differently is we don’t add quite as much flour so you’ll have to see how your dough does that way.
Andrea's Homemade Tortillas
- 3 cups whole wheat flour (or less)
- 1 tsp. Real Salt
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- ⅓ cup olive oil
- 1 cups warm water
Combine all ingredients in a Bosch or KitchenAid reserving some flour (you may not need it all). Mix with enough flour until the mixer starts to clean the sides of the bowl. Mix for 2-3 minutes. Cover and let rest for at least 20 minutes. Using a walnut sized piece of dough, roll out on a lightly floured surface. Fry on both sides on a hot griddle.
