The fresh air, sunshine and beauties of nature are a very natural relaxer. And the best part is that it’s free! Take a walk, lay in the grass and look at the clouds, walk the dog or just sit in a chair and read. Even just 1 minute of sitting and pondering in the fresh air has great therapeutic benefits.
Taking just a moment to inhale deeply through your nose, holding for just a few seconds and then exhaling through your nose is very, very relaxing. It calms the nervous system, clears your mind and leaves you feeling refreshed. Focusing especially on the exhale is a very good idea. Most of us tend to hold our breath throughout the day so make sure you exhale long enough. Make sure you are breathing into your stomach rather than your chest as well. Very relaxing, very easy, very short and very free!
Get Up and Move
Healthy movement is very relaxing to the body. Our muscles tend to get really tight when we are stressed and mild exercise is a great way to help them loosen up. Do a few jumping jacks, run in place, do a minute of yoga, stretch, dance like a crazy person, just get up and rock it! This will increase the oxygen to your brain, give you those good endorphins and help you feel refreshed and ready to go.
Listen to Your Favorite Music
Music can be incredibly relaxing! It can calm the mind, motivate and give an emotional release. You can just sit back, close your eyes and listen, you can sing along at the top of your voice or you may even want to combine it with the last suggestion and dance away. It doesn’t have to take long to just let everything go and feel great.
See? All free, all easy and all very beneficial. Adding these little relaxers throughout your day is such a good way to stay healthy. Health really is a lifestyle rather than a diet or exercise program. And when it’s this easy, who can complain?
