Clean Eating Lemon Cardamom Punch – A healthy and refreshing summer drink. So much better than soda for picnics, barbecues and summer parties!
School is out where we live and everyone is getting out and enjoying the long awaited break. With picnics, barbecues, summer parties and the 4th of July right around the corner we have refreshing drinks on our minds.
It’s very common to see large coolers full to the top with soda pop and artificially made punch at parties. Not only are these full of highly refined sugars but they also contain artificial food coloring among other harmful ingredients. Rather than fill everyone up on unhealthy drinks that will leave you feeling sick, why not whip up a quick batch of delicious, health promoting punch?
Cardamom is a literal powerhouse of nutrition! It contains vitamin C and B6, manganese, magnesium, iron and zinc. It can have health benefits such as helping to control cholesterol levels, aiding digestive health, improving heart health and it is anti-inflammatory. Not to mention it has fantastic flavor and is a natural sweetener!
Lemons are well known for their many health benefits! They can stop internal bleeding and nose bleeds, can ease respiratory problems, can aid weight loss, are a blood purifier, aid digestion and can reduce depression. Is it any wonder the whole world loves lemons?
Another benefit to this punch is how easy it is to make. We like to make the syrup part the night before for extra ease. There is just a good feeling that comes from knowing that you are adding nutrition to you and your family! Nutrition that tastes absolutely amazing 🙂
Lemon Cardamom Punch
- 2 cups water
- ½ cup honey
- 2 tsp. cardamom
- 2 lemons
- sparkling mineral water
Make a syrup by whisking together water, honey and cardamom. Allow to sit 6-8 hours to blend flavors. Squeeze in the juice of the lemons and stir well. Add desired amount of sparkling mineral water. If desired strain off the lemon pulp before adding the mineral water.
