Easy Peasy Whole Wheat Bread – We tried many bread recipes, trying to find the perfect one. When we perfected this one we knew we’d found it. It really is the best in the world & healthy too!

There is nothing quite as homey and comforting as fresh homemade bread! It fills the house with a delicious scent and tastes so yummy with all that melted butter. We tried many homemade bread recipes, trying to find the perfect one. When we perfected this one years ago we knew we could stop looking. We even used this recipe as a base for our Un-Sour Sourdough Bread. It’s just that good! Delicious, healthy and incredibly easy.

A lot of people seem to be concerned about making their own bread, afraid that it is a difficult process. This is one reason we love this recipe. It’s easy as can be! We’ve learned a trick to keep the yeast from dying and we mix all the ingredients in our Bosch. Talk about easy clean up!

Despite the bad rep that Whole Wheat sometimes gets it is in fact extremely good for you. Whole wheat can have benefits such as aiding weight loss, lowering the risk of type 2 diabetes, lessening chronic inflammation and protecting against heart disease among other things.

After our experience with a gluten free diet we certainly think it should be in the superfood category! (you heard it here first 😉 ) We have since learned some of the incredible Truths About Grains and the health properties of Phytic Acid. Fresh homemade whole wheat bread has never tasted (or felt) so good!

Easy Peasy Whole Wheat Bread

Ingredients

2 ½ cups warm water
⅓ cup avocado oil
⅓ cup honey
1 Tbs. Real Salt
4-8 cups whole wheat flour
1 package organic yeast

Directions

Add water, avocado oil, honey, salt, 4 cups of flour and yeast to your Bosch or KitchenAid. Make sure the yeast rests on top of the flour to prevent killing it. Turn on the mixer and allow it to mix, adding enough additional flour for the dough to pull away from the sides. Then knead for 6 minutes. Pour into a greased glass bowl. Allow to sit in a warm place until double in size. Punch down and shape into two loaves. We like to use glass bread pans. Allow to rise until again double in size. Bake at 350º for 35-45 minutes. Cool on a cooling rack if you can wait that long! 😉
