World’s Best Chocolate Chip Cookies – Whether it’s Valentines Day or just a regular day these cookies are perfect to say I love you!

Have you ever heard the phrase “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach?” Our Grandpa Lewis used to say that all the time. It still makes us giggle because that pretty much sums up how fun he was! If there is any truth to this (if you have ever seen a man eat you can easily believe it) then this recipe has to be a love potion all in and of itself! With Valentine’s Day on the way you can’t go wrong with the World’s Best Cookies.

We have had this recipe for about 30 years and honestly can’t remember where we got it! It has evolved over time depending on our moods. We’ve even tried it with whole wheat before and they were still fantastic! After all these years we have it down to a science and have no scruples about calling it The Best. Everyone we have ever given them to has said the same thing about them. They will be perfect to give to anyone and everyone for any reason and they will know you love them!

Now, we will just say that this isn’t really a “healthy” treat. However, it’s not bad for you! All of the ingredients are clean and free of chemicals. There are no artificial flavors or colors. We certainly do not eat these every day (or even every month) but sometimes it’s okay to just have a treat. Sometimes the benefits they give to the soul are exactly what you need (like some Chicken Chowder). As long as you use real, organic ingredients you are just fine. The right kind of chocolate can even be healthy!

A few quick notes: Use real butter NOT margarine! Not only would it completely ruin the flavor of the cookies but margarine is not at all good to eat. Butter on the other hand is a healthy fat and very good for you. When using white flour make sure it’s unbleached and unbromated to avoid harmful chemicals. Now, on to the cookies!

World’s Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

2 cups real butter, room temperature

2 cups brown sugar

1 ½ cups sugar

3 eggs

2 Tbs. real vanilla

6 cups of flour, or more

1 ½ tsp. baking soda

1 ½ tsp. salt

2 cups chocolate chips (we like milk chocolate)

Cream butter, brown sugar, sugar, eggs and vanilla in a large bowl or Kitchen Aid. Add remaining ingredients and beat until thoroughly combined. Using an ice cream scoop place cookies on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350º until very lightly golden brown. To get the right texture we always bake one cookie first. If it flattens out too much you need to add a little more flour.
