Hello friends! Today we are talking a little about anxiety. Having dealt with mild to severe anxiety at various stages of our lives it is a topic we are highly conscious of. It seems that more and more people are struggling with this horrible issue. Thankfully, there are many ways to help ease it naturally. Over the years we’ve picked up lots of tips and tricks. Sometimes simply understanding where anxiety can be coming from is a huge step in eliminating it. Here are 5 Little Known Potential Causes of Anxiety.

Insufficient Breathing
When we are stressed we tend to subconsciously hold our breath. Our bodies sense there is something wrong because of the lack of oxygen. This causes us to go into a state of fight or flight. Naturally a feeling of panic and anxiety are the result. Simply taking time to breathe throughout the day can reduce anxiety a ton. Dr. William Sears likes to take what he calls “breath breaks” about ten times a day. He pauses what he is doing and takes time to breathe and relax. We’ve noticed a huge difference as we’ve tried to take breath breaks throughout the day! (source)

Lack of Movement
Our bodies need to stay active. Exercise releases good endorphins leaving you feeling happy and calm.

You don’t want to push your body too far so it’s important to exercise smart. However, no exercise at all is certainly a bad thing. Movement can boost your mood naturally and give you more energy and a clear mind. (source)

Constipation
Our brains and our gut are closely connected. A trouble in one area can have a great effect on the other. Problems in the intestinal tract can cause anxiety, depression and/or stress. Some advice to ease constipation is to make sure you are getting enough fiber, veggies, exercise and water. (source)

Low Blood Sugar
When our brains aren’t getting enough sugar we can experience an adrenaline rush. This causes us to feel anxious. Those who have a condition like hypoglycemia seem to struggle with this the most.

Our experience shows that keeping our blood sugar levels stable is easiest by eating enough fiber, healthy fats and a good breakfast every morning. It’s always nice to have some peanuts or almonds on hand too! (source)

Consuming Artificial Ingredients
This one we certainly know from personal experience! Food was meant to be consumed by humans. Artificial chemicals where not. Most people are unaware of how artificial ingredients can be effecting their mental health and moods. Artificial colors, flavors, preservatives, etc, can wreak havoc on your emotional well being. In some cases they can even cause learning and behavior issues. It’s always best to stay away from artificial chemicals and eat as much nutritious organic food as possible. It tastes much better too!

    I’ve definitely struggled with anxiety. I think one of the thing that has contributed is worry over the future, and what really helps is to pray as I go to sleep. Also, I love MOVING, moving to get the nervous energy out.
